A staple on Chicago's south side, Fox's Pub has been providing patrons reliable service and hearty pizza for over 40 years And the family-run business shows no signs of slowing down or changing the winning formula.

"People come to Fox's because of the taste and quality; it's consistency," says Frank Fox, who runs the Orland Park Fox's. "People know what they're going to get, they know what service is and they come here to get it corner to corner and wall to wall."

The Fox family, led by matriarch Therese, opened its first restaurant location in 1963 in the Beverly neighborhood. A booming success, the Beverly location spurred the opening of an Oak Lawn location in 1971 and the Orland Park post in 1973. Therese Fox, who still works at the Beverly location, once told her son, Frank, "It's not about the margins but the taste." And that dictum has guided Frank and his brother Tom, who oversees the Oak Lawn location with childhood buddy Vince Athy, ever since.

"It's all about people being happy when they visit," said Frank. Besides the famous pizza (find a southsider who's never tried the family's winning pie formula), Fox's delights visitors with USDA-choice prime rib, often overshadowed by the pizza, and a satisfying Irish Reuben sandwich. But it's the extra effort that brings in the patrons.

The Orland Park location, for instance, brings a clown and magician on Fridays and Saturdays to entertain kids while live entertainment kicks off at 6:00pm for adults seeking a casual, but not too late, evening. "It's the basics that don't exist in today's society," said Frank. "If it's quick and easy, we don't do it because in going the extra mile you get quality assured."
